[home]>[fgfs]>A-10 3D cockpit
It's an attempt to build an accurate 3D cockpit for Lee Elliott's Fairchild A/OA-10 'warthog' in Flightgear. External views here.
The begining was on februar 2006.
If you are interested in last developments, and can't wait the next Flightgear
release, you can get a rather fresh version with the essential instruments on Flightgear CVS, and the last
tarball (updated every month or so) here.
(20061205)
Here the reverted story, last screenshots first, older one at the end:
20061113 I have now to understand the box with the 4 switches and the Enter button wich is placed just upon the APU Fire Handle. My old A-10 flight manual don't talk about it.
Actually I work on the autopilot settings. I suppose I can link the autopilot altitude functions to these controls, but how?
Is the Altitude Warning Light (under the APU Fire Handle) linked to those controls?
Another question does the A-10 (versions equiped with this device) have a tonal or voice sound for Low Altitude Warning?
20061113 I just added a new texture on the cockpit side. Oh, BTW I ever wondered what was the purpose of the red thing, betwen AoA gauge and UHF freq display? Tunning the AoA gauge was really tricky, but now it works quite realistic. Never find a correspondance betwen indexes and AoA degs, so as I only know the AoA degs from the sim, I tuned an interpolation curve so the needle points on the right signs (square, triangle, T, and stripes). We have chopped and continuous warning sounds according to the manual.
20061022 The armament panel is ready for coding, but if weapons are modeled and the weights can be easily integrated in the flight model, the interface to choose them and the release stuff are not yet coded. We have balistic behaviour as submodels for the weapons but we need to developpe lots of things to really practice (or play) with it. I dream about the AGM's video, but have to be patient... So many things to do.
20061022 You can now refuel, it's rather tricky. There is still lot to do on the FG side
like an movable boom and 3D rendering fixes (bounding box problems).
The receiver's open/close lever is active, and when disconnected from the boom you have to close/open it again to permit fuel flow again. Are the lights (Ready, Latched, Disconnect) coloured? Never seen a picture with them.
I'm waiting for some new code of the engines before going further in the Fuel System modeling. We are not far to control the aircraft CG when L-R TKS unequal!
20060314 Under the HSI is one of the navigation selector, it commands what will be displayed on the ADI and the HSI. (20061015 TACAN is working with worldwide database, ILS too.)
20060314 The instruments lighting has 2 differents levels of brightness. Mounts and panel surfaces have their own adjustable brightness.
AOA indexers turns on when landing gear is engaged, we choosed a 8 degrees AoA for the donut.
