If you are interested in last developments, and can't wait the next Flightgear release, you can get a rather fresh version with the essential instruments on Flightgear CVS, and the lastest tarball (updated every month or so) here. (20071101)-->

I first decided to model an A-6E cockpit with the VDI (Vertical Display Indicator) and the PHD (Pilot Horizontal Display, a radar screen on the pilot's panel in the midle of big rotating compass ring).
Well, it will be an A-6A because I discovered that only earlier A-6E had the radar display on the pilot's side, and TC (Terrain Clearance) E-Scan (wich is the only and easiest mode I can model yet) was not used any more on those types. I think the TC display on the VDI matched the needs by itself and so, displaying TC on the PHD had been considered redundant.
Anyway if I want to be consistant with historical versions of the A-6, I just forget the A-6E and change the name, wich is in progress.

20070523 - First test of the TC E-Scan mode on the PHD. There is still work to do to suppress some dots wich are hidden in the radar beam shadow. That means that lower points can be hidden by higher points and they are not supposed to be visible (I don't use a ray based algorithm, I do instead a simulation of the beam, and get the elevations of the sampled points from the terrain database.

20070509 - Not far from finishing the modelling of the upper part of the pilot side. (whitout counting all the systems stuff).
